Why do all these dusty old grimoires require such lengthy and elaborate rituals for summoning demons? Why did these men prescribe such gruelling preparations? There was purification fasting, ritual baths, wearing special clothes. Not to mention the holding of wands and staves, even swords; moving all the furniture aside to draw elaborate symbols on the ground; chanting and offerings; and all of this had to correspond with astrological conditions and the phases of the moon. I don't get it. Exorcisms have shown us that you don't have to do anything at all to summon demons. You just need to be an innocent girl, maybe a nun. Probably a virgin ... oh, I see.
